My Guilty Pleasures as a Cyclist



    Everyone has it maybe ice cream, Pizza, an extra piece of cake, maybe just a mars bar. Every cyclist has a few guilty pleasures and justifies indulging in them through cycling. 
These are top 10 pics for the guilty pleasures of cycling. 

1) Pizza: Through all the time I’ve been cycling never met a cyclist who says he or she doesn't like a pizza. Sure, they’ll tell you that once a month or on occasion or something like that but we know better don't we? If you're one of those people feel that pizza is a fatty food and you’re in the middle of one of those weight loss diets, do yourself a favour and treat yourself to one every now and then. If done right, you'll still lose the weight and not be miserable all the time. 

2) Chocolate: It's a good source of sugars, it's a good alternative to the gels, I need the carbs for the ride, healthy for the heart, improves circulation, I’m about to hit the wall (Cycling term for run out of energy), all are perfectly legitimate excuses/reasons for us to carry one or two of those on a ride. 

3) Subway: We all love the concept of healthy junk food, whether you admit it or not it is what it is.  (Pizza doesn't count).

4) Ice cream: No argument here.  If someone disagree there is something fundamentally wrong with them.

5) Pasta: Ok, I admit. This is one of my personal favourites and it deserves to be on this list. If you've not tried pasta, try it out in your next outing. Especially a cheese filled one.

6) Red Wine: Alcohol and cycling don't mix. Common sense, right? 
 This one is something only a few know about, red wine contains a chemical called Resveratrol.

Next time someone gives you s*** for picking up a bottle at a supermarket or ordering an extra glass at the dinner table, feel free to flash the perfectly legitimate and logical reason on why you need it rather than you just want some booze.
Or ask them to google “Red Wine and Astronauts”.

7) Fruit juice: This one made list as one of the top favourites for rehydrating and re-fuelling on the ride. (Yeah right! We just love sugar and hate the taste of ORS.) 

8) Signpost sprint: Everyone Looks for that pat on the back, something that gives them a sense of achievement (maybe Just an adrenaline Rush). Sometimes we take a step too far, remember the time when your friend or maybe even you announced the declaration of War after you started sprinting?

9) The awesome commute to work: Ok, Social Experiment. Next time you get to work, Ask some of your colleagues if enjoyed the drive to work? 
- The same question to those who actually bike to work? 
- What's the verdict? 
- I rest my case! 

10) Sleep: Love to have a reason to spend the an extra few lazy minutes/hours in bed?  
Reason: I went on a long night ride yesterday! 
More often than not, this is also the same excuse to use for being late for the morning or an evening (yes, evening) ride the next day. 
Personally, I love slacking off . I usually justify it with "The body makes all of its improvement and gives you performance gains during sleep." 

I use this one almost every other day.(Don’t judge me.)
